Newmarket April LC invitational meet – wrap up

Racing at a 50-meter pool for the second time this season was exciting and rewarding for all of our athletes. 

Stouffville Swim Club swimmers from each group delivered fantastic heats victories, set up personal best 
times and set up a club record. It was exciting for the coaching staff to see the steady improvements 
in all 4 strokes. While watching the races a thought crossed my mind “Stouffville swimmers have improved 
immensely since we started the season in September of last year”. It feels rewarding to be part of the development.

Swimmers from Stouffville Club continue to impress with the little things that coaches appreciate the most 
from their athletes such as showing up on time for warm ups, wearing Club uniforms and approaching every
race with the desire to improve best times and win heats. It all starts there, discipline is everything. I was 
particularly proud of seeing our Club enter the water first for warm ups and staying to the very end to get 
ready for racing. We had the right approach and this leads to successful competition.

A special mention must go to all swimmers who raced the longer events 400 and 800 Free style. These 
are events that I personally consider important for developing aerobic capacity and stroke improvements. 
I see more swimmers willing to race these events and ask me for an entry in the future.

I like to mention here that Kennedy Mauro won the 800 Free with a new club record of 13:45.84 in 
the 11 years old girls’ category. She has been a great example of an athlete who dares to race any 
event coaching staff recommends her. She was nervous before the race but never back down or 
hesitated. I wish Stouffville Swim Club swimmers feed off her success and leadership. 

Congratulations to all participants at this meet for their hard work and desire to compete.
